How Can Contrast Illuminate Your GLOW?
Many of you have heard me say that Human Beings learn in Contrast. We often discover what we want as a result of experiencing what we don’t want.
Contrast is a gift that offers us the ability to make choices and decisions once we are in recognition of what really matters to us. I am grateful to share that I was just reminded of how powerful contrast can be.
Prior to the Olympics, I found myself focusing on and being engulfed in all the heartbreaking violence taking place here in this country and abroad. On top of that I allowed myself to indulge in watching the news to stay on top of the presidential election, which is also disturbing to say the least.
I found myself in a familiar place of feeling frustrated, and truly powerless. The more I watched the news the deeper my frustration and fear went. I found myself down that rabbit hole.
I knew better than to focus on all the darkness but I needed to visit the contrast again to be reminded that my life is so much richer and more connected when I focus on all the abundance of Glow and Grace that surrounds us. I am not suggesting that we go into denial.
What I am saying is when we focus our energy and time on what feeds our spirit, our capacity to be resourceful in our lives is profoundly distinct.
Here’s what happened. As I began to watch the Olympics my heart cracked open with tenderness and awe as I witnessed so many amazing dedicated athletes from all over the globe give everything they had in front of the world. No matter the outcome there was a shared respect that was so humbling and heartwarming to see.
Instantly, I experienced an incredible energetic shift. I could see and feel the contrast so clearly.
I needed to experience fear vs. inspiration and contraction vs. expansion in order to make a conscious choice with how I want to spend my time and where I choose to focus my thoughts and energy.
Next time you find yourself being challenged, remind yourself that you are being given the gift of experiencing contrast. This serves as a purpose to remind you to focus on what inspires you, what uplifts your spirit and feeds your soul.
I call this GLOW – Growing, Loving, Opening and Willing.
With love and blessings
